Robert Taylor Price of Elizabethtown was a daguerreotypist by 1850
The wings were separately carved then attached by pin
There is a hinged wooden cover that looks to have one point locked closed over the drawers

perhaps alongside a pretty bowl filled with walnuts
Rocky Shore and Gulls, Radiant Antique Varnished Seascape Signed E. Heaten latched metal box Robert Taylor Price of ElizabethtownThere's a tear to the canvas at upper left, showing a bit of the stretcher underneath, but I find that antique seascapes of this ilk tend to feel all the more moody and atmospheric for the wear and tear on them. And I love the effect of varnish on these old paintings too, making the greens and blues feel otherworldly but also very true to the drama of the sea. Moody and radiant and packing a big visual punch for a small painting. 9 7 8" x 8". General
