It appears to be signed John Henry Sylvester at the bottom and dated what looks to be 1896 (

just a little wear to the paint and a bit of staining to the underside

He thought it likely a mirror carried by someone in the military--small

and balances on the cat ears when turned upside down to fill

Made of brass I believe, with a bright gold toned surface on one side and silver on the other, with decorative embossed patten on the brass of the hook. I've never seen another like this, a wonderfully folky thing, perfect for stringing on a chain now and wearing as a lucky, and handy, pendant! 1 3 4" x 1 7
