Landscape with Gate, Charming Old Folk Art Oil Painting in Gold Frame turning wheel stencil It's a pretty early oneA little gem of a folk painting I think, better in person the combination of blue and green and white really do it for me, and I love that the gate is neat dead center, a threshold just waiting to be crossed. And the painterly bands of white to either side of it, though I guess representing a stone wall, seem as if suggesting a flock of sheep lined up waiting to be released! Initialed at lower right and framed as found, in an old gold painted frame
