It includes lots of word problems requiring multiplication and long division

is larger and more substantial than most I have seen--carved I believe to pass for a book on the shelf--and quite a satisfying one to release by sliding the lid

I always pick these up when I find them

I am fairly certain this is Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and the manner of the heart and spirals say specifically Seneca to me, mid to late 19th century I believe, and would guess more toward mid than late. It is a small pouch, just over 2 1 2" inches across, which I think (based on the round shape, linen lining, opening, and a few examples I have found) was likely made as a cover for a pocket watch.
