It feels very Zen to me--a completely harmonious balance of form

on the rest of the perimeter they run down the center of carefully done edge stitching

they founded their studio in 1978

who had just purchased it from a private collection

I've done a little research to help unpack it

Earthy Presumed Mid Century Japanese Signed Studio Pottery Vase miniature It feels very Zen toI want to describe this Japanese vessel as Brutalist, but certainly much of its inspiration comes from traditional Japanese pottery, including its beautiful jar form. (And I think it could be situated in the tradition of Shigaraki ware rugged, functional stoneware that originated in a valley to the southeast of Kyoto some 1,000 years ago.) Earthly, elegant, super satisfying. 4 1 2" t x 4 3 4" in diameter. Excellent vintage condition. Signed (incised)
