Old Fitzgerald was originally introduced in 1870 as a private label bourbon for railroad and steamship barons. Pappy Van Winkle later acquired the brand and introduced the 'Whisper of Wheat'substituting wheat for rye in the mash bill (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley)creating a softer, sweeter bourbon style.
