it had been in the same family of a British Officer who was present at the destruction of the palace

The vases are marked to the underside with a raised tributary Qianlong seal mark

The vinaigrette having an engraved engine turned hinged lid with a floral border, the gilt interior having a pierced and reticulated hinged lid, with foliate engraved decoration.
